History:
The Philadelphia Ultimate camp first opened its doors, or fields rather, in the summer of 2004, hosting 18 campers the first year. Since then the camp has expanded to include over 36 in 2005. Looking ahead, more than 48 campers are anticipated to attend in 2006, spending the week on the field learning the fundamentals of Ultimate.

The camp was founded by Mark Rosser and Jim Brose as a way to teach local middle school and high school athletes the proper building blocks for competitive ultimate.

Mark Rosser has many years of experience as a camp director and as an ultimate player and coach. In 1985 Rosser started an ultimate club at Duke University and served as the captain of the squad for the next two years. Mark also worked at a tennis camp (The Tennis Farm) for 18 years. From 1990-1998 he was the director of several of their branches, including the branches at Springside School, Friends Select School, and Radnor High School. Mark also has 15 years experience in the classroom, teaching at Woodlynde School and Lower Merion High School. In 2000 Mark founded the Philadelphia High school Ultimate Educational League (PHUEL). This spring there will be approximately 20 high schools competing in the league. Additional information on the league is available on the PHUEL 2006 link to the left. Mark was a member of the Philadelphia masters team that competed in the national championships in 2000 and 2001. Mark also served on the Board of PADA in 1998-1999 and was chosen as the recipient of the Breed Ultimate Award in 1999.

Jim Brose is the founder and former captain of the Philadelphia Masters team One Last Ditch Shot At Glory (OLD SAG). The team has competed in the national championships in Florida the past 4 years. In 2002 they were the National Masters Champion (ages 33 and over). In 2006 he won a silver medal with OLD SAG at the World Championships in Australia. Jim is a lawyer and has served as President of the Philadelphia Area Disc Alliance, a group of approximately 1000 members who play ultimate in the Philadelphia area. Jim is also the owner of Disc Films, a company which makes ultimate videos.

This year the CFO (Chief Frisbee Officer) will be Sam Sackett - Sam has over nine years of professional teaching experience. Sam also has many years of ultimate coaching experience through a variety of positions. In addition to being a high school coach, Sam has served as coach of a women's team, and captained his college team and PADA league teams. As a player, Sam is respected in Philadelphia and throughout the country for his knowledge, enthusiasm, and ability. Since 1985 Sam has been playing club ultimate, playing on teams in Cincinnati, Madison, and Philadelphia. Sam has taught ultimate to all levels of players. In addition to his coaching experience and his involvement in PADA's leagues, Sam has competed at the highest level. He has competed at the UPA's National Championships four times, first at College Nationals in 1990, then at Open Division Club Nationals in 1998, and finally in 2002 and 2003 in the Masters Division of Club Nationals. The 2002 experience was particularly satisfying for Sam and his Philadelphia teammates as they earned the title of National Champions in the Masters Division. Sam has also competed at the World Club Championships in Germany (1989), Madison, Wisconsin (1993), and England (1995).
